Neurofeedback

What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a way of improving brain functions and brain regulation by selectively training brainwaves. The brain uses different brainwave frequencies to produce different states and to do various sorts of tasks. Neurofeedback allows a client, in conjunction with their clinician, to re-train the ‘blend’ of these different brainwaves.

Is Neurofeedback An Alternative To Medication?

Neurofeedback is an alternative to medication in some cases of ADHD. It has also been found to be an effective stress reduction and relaxation modality. It can help clients who are being medicated for stress-related disorders to reduce or eliminate medication over time, in consultation with their physician.

Who Does It Help?

Neurofeedback is helpful with a broad spectrum of psychological problems, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, and stress. In the FCA practice, it is primarily used for clients who wish to improve their capacity for calm, clear-minded, low-stress attention. At FCA, neurofeedback is paid for directly by the client.

Psychological Testing Services

Psychological Testing or a Psychoeducational Assessment can be beneficial when there is a lack of clarity regarding the causes of various emotional, mental, learning, or behavioral problems experienced by a child, adolescent, or adult.

Psychoeducational testing includes those above, as well as an examination of cognitive functioning and learning problems, which might impact a child’s or teenagers’ ability to be successful in school. Psychoeducational testing can help to identify the particular learning style of a child and determine if there is a learning disability, cognitive difficulties, or executive skill deficit, which may be impeding the learning process. Both psychological testing and psychoeducational testing assist the psychologist in formulating well-informed treatment plans and educational intervention strategies.
